To correct sagging eyebrows and smooth deep forehead creases and frown lines, a brow or forehead lift is the perfect solution. A forehead lift in Houston can correct static wrinkles when Botox® isn’t enough. While this procedure does not address excess, crepey upper eyelid skin as does an upper blepharoplasty, it can raise droopy upper eyelids, giving your face a refreshed, more awake appearance.
The Forehead Lift
If you and Dr. Norris decide a forehead lift in Houston is the right procedure to address your facial aging concerns, you will need to discontinue taking certain medications and avoid alcohol and tobacco products in preparation for your surgery.
Dr. Norris will suggest either a traditional forehead lift, which requires an ear-to-ear incision that is hidden in the hairline, or an endoscopic brow lift procedure, which involves a few small incisions placed discreetly within the hairline.
Each variation of the forehead lift in Houston may be performed using either general or local anesthesia. During surgery, Dr. Norris will lift the skin and other tissues in the forehead, tighten them and remove excess skin. Forehead lift incisions are closed with clips or stitches.
Recovering From a Forehead Lift
You may notice some swelling, bruising, numbness and tingling near your incision following surgery, but this should resolve within a few weeks to a few months. There are 1-2 weeks of downtime after a traditional forehead lift, and it is best to avoid exercise and strenuous activity for at least three weeks.
The recovery period for an endoscopic forehead lift is typically shorter than that of a traditional forehead lift because the incisions are smaller and thus do not require as much time to heal.
Your end result will be a firmer, smoother, uplifted upper face that can subtly diminish the signs of aging and keep you looking more youthful for years to come. For more extensive facial rejuvenation and to correct aging in the lower and mid-face, a brow lift may also be combined with a cheek lift or performed as part of a complete facelift.
Am I a good candidate for a forehead lift? The best candidates for a forehead lift are individuals in generally good health, who possess realistic expectations, and who are looking to minimize the appearance of forehead wrinkling or drooping. This procedure can be performed at any age; however, most patients are between the ages of 40 and 65.
Will I experience significant pain following a forehead lift?It is reasonable for you to expect discomfort following surgery. Most patients experience some pain, but it is most often minimal. Pain medication may be prescribed by your surgeon to ease any discomfort.
How long before I can return to normal activities following a forehead lift? Most swelling and pain should fade within a week of surgery. Patients usually feel comfortable resuming normal activities, including work, within 1-2 weeks. Strenuous physcial activities should be avoided for several weeks, and sun exposure should be restricted for several months.
Will there be any significant scarring? In general, patients should expect to have some scarring following a forehead lift. Incisions will run across the top of the head near or directly behind your hairline. Due to the location of the incision, scarring should be well-concealed within your natural hairline.
Are there any significant risks associated with chin implants? As with all surgical procedures, there is a degree of risk associated with a forehead lift. For this reason, it is important for you to discuss these risks with your surgeon. Complications may include adverse anesthesia reactions, infection, asymmetry, nerve damage or the need for additional surgery.
